Please provide copies of documentation of previous firefighter training or experience with the job application.If chosen, you must pass a doctor’s physical.Applicants must take a pass/fail Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) The test is used to measure the ability to perform day to day physical duties of the job.The test is used to help determine a candidate’s ability to read at a minimum of a ninth-grade level to understand the Essentials of Firefighting text used in the Firefighter I & II course. Applicants must pass a 30-question written test scoring 70% or better.After 20 years of service there is a lump sum payment, payable at age 50, from the Fire Relief Association. Volunteers are paid $145.00 each quarter.If selected, there is a probationary period of 1 year.The individual must pass Minnesota testing standards for Firefighter I&II and Haz-Mat Operations Level certification. ![]() The individual selected will be required to attend a Firefighter I & II training course consisting of approximately 100 hrs.The applicant will be required to make 60% of the fire calls and 75% of the monthly meetings and drills which are held on the first and last Wednesday of each month.The applicant’s job, interests, and hobbies should not keep them away for extended periods of time.The applicant should make their family aware of the commitment and have their support.The applicant must be able to leave work for fire calls, so they must have their employer’s consent.Candidates must live within the TRF Fire coverage area.Applicants will be screened and have background checks done on them.The individual must be physically and emotionally able to cope with stressful and hazardous conditions.Applicant must be a minimum of 21 years of age and possess a valid MN driver's license.Volunteer Firefighter Candidates Basic Information ![]()
